It never ceases to amaze me how many people book the first flight/hotel price they find online without even considering alternative options or the additional fees a lot of sites add on.

These are my top 5 sites I visit every time I am booking a holiday, and I always know I have found the best deal. Add these to your bookmarks and you’ll be saving time and money in no time!

 1.Skyscanner

Skyscanner is a flight aggregator that automatically searches all the booking engines, airline sites, travel agencies with the click of a button. When you select your flight and click to book, they link you directly to the airline or travel agent. No hidden charges or added fees!

2. Trip Advisor

Trip Advisor is usually my first port of call after I’ve booked my flights. I visit the site for its millions of hotel reviews, ranked in order of positive reviews, to narrow down my hotel shortlist of where I want to stay.

3. Hotels Combined

Hotels Combined is a metasearch site that brings together all the hotel deals from around the Internet on one page. It’s easy to use and free, and saves you a lot of time and money (you know you’ve found the cheapest listed price!)

4. Airbnb

If I’m not interested in staying in a hotel, then Airbnb is the only logical alternative in my opinion. It’s filled with thousands of peer-reviewed rooms and apartments around the globe that you can stay in. Whether you want a cheaper or more authentic travel option, Airbnb is a lifesaver.

5. Mozo

Mozo makes finding and booking affordable travel insurance a breeze as they compare over 40 insurers with just one search. Within seconds you have a huge range of travel insurance options sorted by price and level of coverage. Easy!

What are your favourite sites to use for booking travel?

I love Rome2Rio for figuring out the various routes between different cities and even towns. Created by some guys in Melbourne, it’s a really useful site.
