The new IMK Range and a Simple Berry Smoothie recipe

Brought to you by Nuffnang and Spotlight
As a graphic designer, it’s fair to say I’m pretty obsessed with colour. And with the new trend of coloured kitchen appliances taking off, I’ve been fighting the urge to buy a different machine in every colour under the rainbow!

And as luck would have it, a new range of kitchen appliances by IMK has just arrived at Spotlight stores, and includes toasters, kettles, blenders and stick mixes in a range of bright and fun colours. Not only does the IMK Pro Colour collection feature smart contemporary design to make your life easier, they are now on sale at an affordable price – so it’s totally ok to order one in every shade!

My kitchen can best be summed up as “1970s drab” and I love the splash of colour these machines bring! I ummed and ahhed for a while over which appliances and colours I would play with and ended up settling on the aqua stick mixer and black blender – they would suit my kitchen perfectly.

The blender features a 5 litre glass jug with pouring chute and measuring cup, stainless steel blades (perfect for crushing ice), 5 speeds and 500 watts of powerful blending power.

The stick mixer features a detachable stainless steel blending shaft, variable speed control with turbo function and stainless steel blades. The detachable shaft means you can use the stick mixer to immersion blend large quantities of liquid, or you can blend smaller amounts in the attachable bowl. Easy as pie!

I wanted to create a recipe using one of these appliances, and with summer around the corner, a healthy smoothie was the way to go. I could make this in a heartbeat in the blender, but I thought it was a good opportunity to show off the versatility of the stick mixer. I must admit I only ever used my old stick mixer to blend soups, but this one whipped me up a smoothie in seconds!

Firstly I added the frozen berries, coconut water and chia seeds to the bowl of the mixer, then blitzed.

Within a matter of seconds the stainless steel blades had blended the frozen berries to perfection.

Simply pour into a vessel of your choice, top with some extra berries and finish off with a sprinkle of coconut. Stripey straw optional ;)

Simple Berry Smoothie recipe

Prep Time 2 mins
Total Time 2 mins
Servings 1

  • 1 cup mixed frozen berries
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds

  • Add the frozen berries, coconut water and chia seeds to the bowl of the stick mixer, then blitz until smooth.
  • Check your mixture for consistency, and add a little more coconut water if required.
  • Pour into a tall glass and enjoy!

This recipe is extremely easy to change up. If you want something more filling for breakfast, substitute the coconut water for milk or a non-dairy substitute and add in a scoop of protein powder. If you want to make it green, add in a handful of spinach before you blitz.

I hope you too now want a kitchen appliance in every single colour (sorry not sorry). To make your decision easier, head on on over to the IMK website for more information on their range!
