7 Healthy Drink Twist Ideas with Cranberry Juice

As someone who runs a blog that focuses on desserts, it may come as a surprise to you that I try and avoid excess sugar in every other part of my life. I’m sure I meet more than my yearly sugar quota when recipe-testing, so I try and show some restraint!

My father is a dietitian, so we never drank soft drink growing up, in fact we rarely drank cordial or commercial fruit juices for that matter either. As someone who tries to keep a relatively svelte figure, I always saw sugary drinks as wasted calories (I would much rather spend my calories on food!)


When I got asked to try the new Low Sugar Ocean Spray range I was curious – would it taste as good as the real deal? Would it actually be that much healthier? Well the good news is that answer is yes and yes! The new drink is sweetened with Stevia and you can barely tell the difference from the original. It also now has 85% less sugar and contains only 10 calories per serve.

I thought it would be fun to create some tasty and healthy drink twists using low sugar cranberry juice, and I’ve whipped up several of these delicious concoctions for you!

1. Cranberry Smoothie

  • 1 cup low sugar cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries
  • 2 tablespoons of your favourite yoghurt

Blitz together in your blender and serve!


2. Iced Cranberry Green Tea

  • 1 cup cooled green tea
  • 1/2 cup low sugar cranberry juice
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon

Brew you favourite green tea and allow to chill in the fridge. Combine it in a glass with the low sugar cranberry juice and freshly squeezed lemon and stir!


3. Cranberry Lime Slushy

  • 1 cup low sugar cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime

Freeze for several hours in a container until solid, then scrape with a fork and serve in a tall glass.


4. Cranberry Mint Spritz

  • 1 cup low sugar cranberry juice
  • 1/2 cup soda water
  • Several mint leaves

Chop the mint leaves, combine ingredients in a glass, stir and top with more fresh mint!


5. Cranberry Orange Twist

  • 1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
  • 1/2 cup low sugar cranberry juice

Squeeze 1-2 oranges, combine in a glass with low sugar cranberry juice and stir!


6. Coconut and Cranberry Punch

  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1/2 cup low sugar cranberry juice
  • 1 tbsp freshly squeezed lime

Combine in a glass and stir!


7. Cranberry Lemonade

  • 1 cup soda water
  • 1/4 cup low sugar cranberry juice
  • 1/4 cup freshly freshly squeezed lemon

Squeeze the lemon and add to soda water and cranberry juice. Combine in a glass and stir!
