About the Founder

Hi there! My name is Sarah, but most people call me Swah. I’m a baking-mad graphic designer with an incurable case of wanderlust based in Sydney, Australia. I founded Love Swah way back in 2010 when blogging was just getting started. This website started off as a way for me to share my recipes and travel tales with friends and family, and has grown into a business which has offered me many amazing experiences.

When I am not blogging on Love Swah, you will find me designing over at Peachy Keen Design Co, doing some freelance travel writing for a range of print and online clients, speaking at events, or adventuring around the globe.

In my downtime I love hanging out with my boyfriend Zoltan, playing with my puppy Maggie, binge watching Netflix and doing yoga.

FAQ

Why are you called Swah?

Back in high school, a teacher with terrible writing wrote my name (Sarah) on the board. She somehow made the A and R look like a W and suddenly everyone started calling me Swah. The nickname has stuck ever since!

How many countries have to been to?

I’ve been to 39 countries and feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface! I’m yet to set foot on Africa and South America, and I can’t wait to explore these amazing continents.

Where do you plan on visiting next?

I still haven’t been to Bali (probably the only Australian who hasn’t!) and I will be going there soon. I am also dying to go to Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Peru!

What’s your favourite thing to bake?

I’ve been affectionately nicknamed “The Cupcake Queen” by a few people, and I must say I sure do love whipping up cupcakes! If I want something quick and easy to make, then I can’t go past a home baked cookie.

Do you take custom orders?

Sadly I no longer have time to bake custom cupcake or cake orders, nor stock cafes. Sorry!!

Are you a professionally trained baker?

I am 100% self taught. I used to bake as stress relief when I was younger and just kept going. I devour cookbooks, watch YouTube videos and practice a LOT.

What’s your dog’s Instagram?

I’m so glad you asked! Maggie The Goldie

What a great recipe, everything one should always have. I used rice malt syrup instead of sugar and it was relish. Thank you.

    Hi,
I just found your recipe for chocolate chip oat cookies while looking to bake something with Demerara sugar I am looking for things I can bake and freeze for a week or so for some holiday meals. I rarely ever freeze my baked goods as I like to serve fresh but I know some recipes are equally as good after freezing. Have you ever froze these cookies

Hi Shawna, yes I have frozen the cookie dough and then defrosted and sliced when ready to bake – it works a treat!
