I fell in love with Erika’s style of photography as soon as I stumbled across her online and love reading her delightful blog full of treats. Welcome, Erika!
Hello! Who are you and what do you do?
Hi! I’m Erika, a freelance photographer/stylist/designer/blogger/cookie baker and eater.
What work are you most proud of to date?
Oooh I’ve had the opportunity to work on a few dream projects which I’m quite proud of. Last year I styled a cookbook with Luisa Brimbleand Hetty from Arthur Street Kitchen. This was a huge deal to me and I still can’t believe I got the chance to do that. Another project that just launched this month is an online homewares store The Assembly. This was probably the single biggest project I have taken on by myself – getting to style, photograph and design the site. I learnt a lot very quickly!
What was the turning point in your career?
I would say it was a few years back when I attended Blogshop (a Photoshop course for bloggers run by Bri from Design Love Fest and photographer Angela Kohler. It wasn’t so much what I learnt there, but it was the first time I realised that there was a creative community in Australia that I fit into. I found my people!
Who would you love to collaborate with one day?
I’m actually moving to the UK next year and have a looooong list of dream besties. One of them is Izy from Top With Cinnamon. She’s a wunderkind and I want to know all her secrets.
What’s your number one tip for someone wanting to start their own business/blog?
Just start and consistently create good content. And keep pushing yourself to get better at your craft – whatever that is. And collaborate as much as you can.
