East Hotel is a contemporary 4.5 star apartment hotel located in Kingston, Canberra which combines elegant design and quirky art inside a modern concrete and glass building. With spacious studios and apartments decked out in 1960s retro furniture, a fully equipped kitchen, free Wi-Fi and Nespresso machines ensuring your room is like a home away from home. The mini art gallery, magazine library and fire place in the lobby, along with the bikes for hire are added thoughtful touches to ensure a fun stay.
Service at reception (open 24 hours) is impressive, with parking promptly arranged and the offer of additional bath salts (she clearly knew I like my baths). I remarked to my travel companion “that was the smoothest check in I’ve ever had!” as we headed to our rooms.
We arrive at our Luxe One Bedroom Apartment which features a separate living room, bedroom, balcony, bathroom with a spa bath, and a fully equipped kitchen and laundry – making it ideal for travelling families.
The bathroom is stocked with exclusive amenity products with a focus on the environment – in this case our room was stocked with Appelles, which just so happens to be my favourite Luxury Australian Skin care brand.
The beds all feature the custom made “East” mattresses with mattress toppers for extra comfort. We had our King bed converted to 2 Singles by request. I am also beyond thrilled whenever a hotel has a pillow menu, which East did.
The living area is fitted out with colourful mid-century furniture which I really wanted to stuff in my suitcase and take home with me. Isn’t that mustard chair divine?!
Joe’s Bar
This sophisticated Italian bar and restaurant in the lobby of East Hotel is exactly what Canberra’s hotel scene needs. The seasonal menu and curated wine list are regularly updated by head chef Francesco and will keep you coming back again and again. For my full review of the restaurant, check it out here.
Muse
Muse is where great food, wine and books come together. Located next to Joe’s Bar at East Hotel, this place sounds like my dream! Serving food from dawn until late into the night, it means you can get grab a delicious bite to eat at any time of day. Breakfast is served until 11.30am on weekends, but if you miss that (guilty as charged) you’ll be pleased to know they also have a condensed all day breakfast menu.
The fried egg & bacon roll with cheese, house made BBQ sauce and avocado was just what the doctor ordered. Look how thick that bacon is!
Washed down with locally roasted Red Brick Espresso coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice and we felt revived and ready to brave the drive back to Sydney.

loving it!!! Phenomenal design…
Wow, what an awesome hotel! I never knew hotels offered a pillow menu. I would love that option as I’m not the biggest fan of those soft ones where your head sinks in. Lol thanks for sharing!!
Pillow menus are the best!!
