Stock photography used to be a dirty word when I was starting out as a graphic designer, but lately the creation of feminine, beautifully shot and curated stock collections has been filling the internet and it’s all kinds of wonderful. Styled stock photography has taken off in a big way, and it’s an easy and affordable way for bloggers and small business owners to brand their company with gorgeous imagery across their website and social media platforms.
So what is styled stock photography? They are pre-styled and shot photographs that tend to follow a particular colour scheme or theme and often include a screen which you can mock your artwork up on (such as an iMac screen or iPhone). A good stock photo is beautifully styled, well-exposed and suits the look and feel of your company or blog. There are more and more companies offering styled stock photos of varying quality, so I have rounded up my 8 favourites for you today!
1. SC Stockshop by Shay Cochrane
Shay Cochrane is considered the pioneer of the styled stock photography trend. Her images are bright, colourful and gorgeously styled. They are on the pricey end of the scale, but the quality is worth it.
2. Her Creative Shop
I love this shop for gorgeously styled desk flatlays and computer mockups. The images are minimalist with pops of colour, and often feature florals.
3. Kate Maxwell Styled Photography
Kate’s images are bright and colourful and feature random props from gold pineapples and succulents, to donuts and laptops, making it perfect for a wide range of blogs and businesses.
4. Haute Chocolate Styled Photography
Haute Chocolate is a subscription stock library, and after joining you get instant access to nearly 500 images organised in easy-to-view collections. This is a fantastic idea and all of their images are of high quality and beautifully styled.
5. Design Love Shop
I love their super chic and minimalist layouts, often combining tech and fashion so effortlessly. They also offer several Custom Scene Creators which feature editable objects, background and filters so you can personalise your own flatlay.
6. Dear Miss Modern
One of my favourite photography stylists, their range goes from super chic minimal desktop shots to bright and colourful tropical mockups (I can’t say no to anything with a flamingo in it).
7. Styled by Miss Poppy
Miss Poppy have recently branched out into styled stock photography and I am loving their colourful arrangements of stationery, fashion and accessories.
8. Carmen Creative Shop
Carmen Creative have a big range of mockups including computer screens, fashion and clipboards, all styled in a minimal feminine way. I also love her birthday range filled with colourful cakes and more!
I hope this list is a big help next time you’re on the hunt for beautiful styled stock photography!
