Next week I’ll be jetting off to LA and I can’t wait! This trip has been in the works for 6 months and it’s crept up awfully fast – in fact I am suddenly begging time to slow down as I try and get work finished before I leave. Never mind, I’m super excited and hope you can share your USA tips with me too!
I’ve been to America several times before, but am always on the hunt for great restaurants, bars, cafes, shops and the weird and wonderful (for example, I plan on going on a water slide that goes through a shark tank in Vegas). I’m visiting:
♥ Los Angeles
♥ San Fransico
♥ Las Vegas (Never been)
♥ New Orleans (Never been – and we’ll be there for Halloween!)
♥ New York
So please share any suggestions you have and I’ll be eternally grateful xxx

ERHMEGHERD have the best time!!!!! Can’t wait to see all of your awesome posts when you get back. Sorry I don’t have any useful tips, haven’t been to Muurrica since I was a kid but I’m sure you’ll have an amaaaazing time! Have a safe trip! :D and OMG a slide through a shark tank! this is going on my bucket list!
Thanks Christine! I am particularly excited/nervous about the shark tank slide ;D
Oh, boy! Do I have a list for you!
Please email me a list Sar! xx
Vegas – go to any Cirque show, worth it. Not necessary for Zumanity though. Great Breakfast Buffet at Bellagio. I would take the monorail so you won’t be stuck in a cab between places on the strip. That said, go down to their Downtown to see the Freemont experience and check out the neon museum.
New Orleans- go to Cafe Du Monde for Beniget and Cafe Au Lait. Go to Acme Oyster for food. Go to Brennan’s for Turtle Soap (not real turtle), and Banana Foster. If you’re brave, do a ghost tour. And definitely hang at French Quarter for any crazy bars.
Oh thank you so much Patty!! Great suggestions, have added them to my list :)
Hi Swah!
I’ve only been to New York but I have a never ending list…

– Birerria (rooftop bar/beer garden on top of Eataly)
– Eataly
– Rice to Riches for rice pudding
– momofuku (all of them!)
– Tacombi
– Parm
– taim
– Fig & Olive
– 230 Fifth (rooftop bar)
– Le Bain (rooftop bar – very “look at me” but worth a visit)
– Artichoke Basille’s
– Lombardi’s
– Mables for awesome bbq (in Brooklyn)
– Chelsea Market (Eleni’s – cupcakes and cookies! plus a HEAP of awesome food stores – in the old Nabisco factory – where Oreos were invented!)
– Levain Bakery (cookies!)
– Big Gay Ice Cream Shop (get the salty pimp!)
– Smorgasburg in Brooklyn
… I could go on forever!
Have an amazing trip :)
Lex you are amazing, thank you so much for your awesome sounding NY tips! I’m going to be a busy girl!
For New Orleans, go to Frenchman Street on Halloween and be sure to wear an outrageous costume. It’s going to be full of people having a great time. On a non-Halloween night, go to Frenchman for fantastic live music. For food, go to the Green Goddess in the Quarter if you’re tired of butter-heavy New Orleans food. Drink – Lafitte’s Blacksmith Shop (voodoo daquiri), Carousel Bar in the Hotel Monteleone (it revolves!), and the Sazerac Bar in the Roosevelt for a classic sazerac or ramos gin fizz. If you’re here on a weekday, have lunch at Commander’s Palace (a Garden District institution), drink their $0.25 martinis, and wander around the Garden District and Lafayette Cemetery across the street. I just stumbled on your blog while looking for a mug cake recipe, and happy to see you’re coming to visit my amazing city :)
Oh and when in LA, go to In n Out. Google their “secret” menu.
Julie I promise to wear the most outrageous Halloween costume ever! I am so excited to visit NOLA, it’s my first time and I am going to try as many of your suggestions as possible :D
Have a great trip Swah! I hope my suggestions are useful :D x

OH! ALSO. the Met is actually by donation. It says suggested price is like $20 but you could get in for as little as a dollar! Don’t worry, when you get to the counter they won’t ask you for the full amount. They simply great you and you hand them what you’ve got.
Thanks so much Kacey, I will try and visit as many of these places as possible! So jealous you lived in NYC for a year!!
