Melbourne has to be one of my favourite cities, and I try and pop down for a visit at least once a year. Now that I have my sister and agency located in Melbourne too, this calls for more trips! I’ve got the lovely Freya here today to share with us the ultimate weekend away in Melbourne!
The second largest city in Australia has been named the world’s most liveable city for the fifth year in a row by The Economist Magazine. Melbourne, with its beautiful Victorian-era architecture, trendy laneways, great shopping and edgy street art, is also a wonderful city for a weekend getaway.
What makes Melbourne a fantastic weekend getaway? It’s an easy-going café culture city where the entertainment just never stops. From festivals and hidden bars to upscale theatre and big sporting events such as the upcoming famous The Melbourne Cup 2015 Carnival coming up this November. Melbourne truly has something for everyone.
We can’t forget the food. The options for dining are endless whether it’s a quaint café on a side street or an upscale fine dining establishment and every possible thing in between.
The city of Melbourne also boasts the most efficient public transportation system in Australia. Nobody has to worry about getting stuck and missing out on activities or entertainment whilst waiting on transportation to actually move from one location to another.
